Top of the World Excellent Soldier Award

(1) Recipients: E-1 thru E-6 Active duty, National Guard or Reserve soldiers

(2) Eligibility requirements: The soldier, as selected by any Warrant Officer, Retiree, civilian or individual within soldier’s chain of command. The recommended applicant must have exhibited outstanding civilian and military abilities that encompass the Seven Army Values: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless service, Honor, Integrity, Personal courage as well as exhibiting traits found within the Warrant Officer Creed. Initiators of nomination may select one nominee. The timeframe for the award is based on a fiscal year. Demonstrations of merit may be made using both subjective and objective criteria. Criteria that may be used to support the nomination include, but are not limited to:

(a) Command emphasis.

(b) Risk management/standing operating procedures.

(c) Performances that have contributed to mission and operational success. Include circumstances, hazards, promotions, events, etc.

(d) Proactive measures taken to enhance unit morale.

(e) Training improvements or enhancements.

(f) Volunteerism.

(g) Discipline in line of duty.

(h) Continued leadership role.

(3) Initiator: When a nominee is selected, initiator of nomination request will assume responsibility to help develop nomination packet for turn-in and information flow to candidate of dates of board, board material, board preparation and presentation.

(4) Nominations: Prepare a THRU memorandum with supporting documentation as needed. The nomination shall include a concise introduction, which describes specific achievements that merit consideration and summary explanation of their accomplishments. Initiator point of contact information will include e-mail address and telephone number. Initiator can submit point of contact information via email to XXX.army.mil no later than 15 MAY of each year.

(5) Documentation: The nomination package will include:

2. ERB

(6) Nomination process: nomination packets will be presented to the Top of the World Warrant Officer Association Awards committee no later than 15 MAY of each year. The committee will consist of 4 members with one individual as board president. Board members must be active members of the Top of the World chapter of the Army Warrant Officer Association. The board members will meet no later than 31 MAY to review completed packets and select one individual to be presented award.

(7) Notification of award: Individual and initiator will be notified of dates and times for the presentation. Uniform is Class A uniform for awardee (preferred). Circumstances and environment can dictate use of other uniform. Award will be presented no later than 60 days after board approval of awardee.

(8) Award: Award will be plaque or trophy, Chapter coin given by President of the Top of the World Chapter.

(9) Public Affairs: One person from the board will be selected as public affairs coordinator who is responsible to notify, coordinate and prepare messages to present to the awardee’s Public affairs officer or any other media outlet. Public affairs coordinator will be present to take photographs of award ceremony and submit to the Top of the World chapter to be input into TOA website.

4. (applicant name) has set a high benchmark inand should be commended for their performance this year. The realistic goals they set for themselves have all been exceeded, and the NNCB has successfully turned the tide of accidental and operational mishaps into a Army success story that saved lives. The NNCB effort is a model that demonstrates how leader involvement with accident avoidance can effect mission improvements and preserve combat power. NNCB programs are being intergrated across the Group to enhance effectiveness at higher levels.
